Planning and Land Use Management Committee (PLUM)

The PLUM Committee shall promote community input and involvement in land use, planning, beautification and appropriately sized public, commercial and residential development in the Mar Vista region, and provide recommendations to the MVCC Board of Directors regarding such issues, in order to improve the health and quality of life for MVCC stakeholders.

Since 2006, The Mar Vista Community Council has funded Streetscape Improvements, encouraged growth of our Farmers’ Market and promoted interest in our commercial corridor.This has driven a renaissance on Venice Blvd between Centinela and Inglewood during the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

The City Planning Department is asking for public comment on the proposed ADU, or 'granny flat' ordinance which is required for compliance with state law. Deadline is December 15, 2009. More information at their website: http://cityplanning.lacity.org/

In addition to changing the name of our Planning Committee from Urban Planning/Land Use (UP/LU) to Planning/Land use Management (PLUM), we've dealt with some of the major issues affecting the quality of life of residents in Mar Vista and the entire Westside.
